A Shrewsbury, Massachusetts landscape company employee was arrested by federal officials and charged with conspiracy to commit visa fraud. He was supplying H-2B visas to Brazilian workers, yet his company was not hiring them.
The suspect, a citizen of Brazil, is accused of charging Brazilian nationals thousands of dollars to procure H-2B temporary work visas, with the knowledge that there were no jobs at the company where he worked. He allegedly also knew that once the Brazilian nationals entered the United States on the fraudulently obtained visas, they would not return to Brazil when the visas expired. This is typically ten months after the date of issuance.
