The continuing, severe Midwest drought has caused the entire state of Indiana to be issued a water shortage warning. The warning was issued by the state’s Department of Natural Resources and the Indiana Department of Homeland Security.
Letters have been sent to owners and operators of significant water withdrawal facilities, those that are capable of withdrawing 100,000 gallons of water per day, calling on them to implement voluntary measures.
It is hoped that this that will result in a ten to 15 percent reduction in water use. All Indiana residents are being encouraged to conserve water.
