Two educational forces in the green industry recently announced they will be teaming up to bring irrigation information to landscape professionals. The radio show The Water Zone, sponsored by Toro Irrigation in Riverside, California, will be partnering with the Irrigation Association (IA), Fairfax, Virginia, to make technical programs more accessible to the public.

Starting in late April, the show will air a series of technical presentations by IA-certified irrigation specialists, and qualified listeners will be able to earn Continuing Education Units by tuning in. “This is a first for our industry,” said show co-host Rob Starr. “We are honored to partner with the Irrigation Association to provide a unique way to further educate professionals and the public about irrigation systems and proper landscape water management.”

Last year, The Toro Company received the 2016 WaterSense Excellence Award for Outreach and Communication from the EPA, at least in part due to their sponsorship of The Water Zone. The radio show is all about irrigation and features educators, scientists, horticulturalists, meteorologists, water agencies, and representatives from local state and federal government agencies.

The first presentation will focus on irrigation hydraulics and basic system troubleshooting techniques. The show is available via the KCAA radio station, the station’s website, or UStream’s radio streaming service.
