Surecut Lawncare LLC of St. Louis, Missouri, is facing a lawsuit from the local laborers union, but it isn’t clear whether they are really the ones at fault. The Eastern Missouri Laborers District Council and Laborers International Union of North America Local 110 recently filed a complaint in U.S. District Court against Surecut for violating the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA). Surecut also does business as Surecut Lawncare, Surecut Solutions, and Farinella Bros. Landscaping, and the union says the last one of that list is the problem.

Farinella was sold to Surecut more than a year ago, but the union claims that the sale was a ruse, and Surecut is just a front for Farinella. Farinella Bros. Landscaping is still bound to a collective bargaining agreement with the union, and the suit argues that the company, and by extension Surecut, have failed to live up to their end of the agreement.

The filing says that Surecut failed to recognize the union’s status as the bargaining representative for its employees and refused to abide by the terms of its collective bargaining agreement with the union. They also say that Surecut did not make the proper supplemental union dues contributions.
