Landscape professionals around Albuquerque, New Mexico, can now learn to design, install and maintain water-efficient landscapes through free training courses sponsored by the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority,
The utility launched the new “Agua Savio” training program to help landscape contractors meet their customers’ increasing demands for low-water-use systems. The two-hour courses are free for landscape contractors, and are conducted in both English and Spanish.
Contractors can either schedule classes at their own facilities or attend pre-scheduled classes. Upon completion of the classes, participants will receive a certificate to show that they have been trained in irrigation efficiency.
Course topics include: Albuquerque weather patterns; how to determine a landscape’s water needs; ways to reduce landscape irrigation; different types of irrigation systems; how to detect and repair irrigation system leaks; and methods for using plants, trees and mulch to improve landscapes and save water.
