A San Antonio, Texas couple, Tom and Linda Friedrich, called in local E&L Pro Lawn Care to landscape the perimeter of their backyard, around their pool and to build a limestone retaining wall. After a second meeting, Edwin Roche of E&L had the couple write him a check for $2,700 as a deposit for materials. He cashed the couple’s check, but never showed up; instead, he called the couple to tell them he would make it out another day.

“I had everything designed for him; all he had to do was work off a plan we had,” Fredrich said. “We kept calling his home and his office and we couldn’t ever reach anyone.” Then they get a final call from one of Roche’s employees, who reported that Roche was having health issues.

When contacted, Roche confirmed that he was having health problems, and explained that someone had run off with the company’s money. He also admitted there were others in the same situation and he would refund the money he owed. Roche did not follow up nor refund any money.
