The Beaconsfield suburb of Montreal considering banning the use of leaf blowers during summer months.
According to the Montreal Gazette, Mayor Georges Bourelle says research has shown that the tiny particulates released in the air during the leaf blowing process stay afloat for long periods and have proven to cause very serious health issues. Leaf blowers are significant polluters, he says.
The motion to ban the use of leaf blowers is set to be adopted at the July council meeting and would go into effect Jan. 1, 2019. The ban will be set to June 1 to Sept. 30.
