Colton Southworth of Sandy Springs, Georgia, was denied landscaping service because of his sexuality, according to an article in the Georgia Voice.
According to the article, Southworth and his husband bought a new home in July and decided to landscape it. That’s when he contacted Stuart DiNenno, owner of Botanica Atlanta Landscape Design. Southworth said the conversation ended with DiNenno denying the couple service because they were gay.
Southworth, decided to air his grievances on Yelp, stating, “Contacted today about a very large project in Sandy Springs. The owner asked if the work was for me and my wife, I said no me and my husband and he replied that he wouldn’t be interested in working with us,” he wrote.
DiNenno’s now deleted reply corroborated his position of turning down service to those who associate as LGBTQ.
DiNenno’s Yelp page now has a one-star review after hundreds of people left reviews denouncing his discrimination.
Georgia currently has no nondiscrimination laws to protect LGBTQ individuals.
