Tate Manahl, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, is making great strides after suffering severe injuries during an accident involving a lawn mower, according to an article on the KWWL News website.

Manahl was only three-years-old when he was accidentally run over by a lawn mower in his family’s front yard. His injuries were severe and life-threatening from the stomach down. He was airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, where doctors were able to save his life and his legs.

While Tate’s road to recovery has reportedly been a steep one, but he has improved greatly in the 16 months since the tragic accident. On Dec. 20, after undergoing 30 operations, Tate was cleared by his doctor to be able to walk without any help from a cast or walker.

According to the article, Ryan Manahl, Tate’s dad, continues to be an advocate for lawnmower safety. He encourages other families to learn from their story and to teach children the dangers of lawn mowers.
