New York City is typically not the place that comes to mind when envisioning beautiful, natural landscapes. But one company has turned the concrete jungle into their canvas with its new reality show, “Backyard Envy,” that recently debuted on Bravo, Thursday, Jan. 17.

The series follows James DeSantis, Garrett Magee and Melissa Brasier, three friends who run a Brooklyn, New York-based design and landscaping firm called Manscapers, according to an article on bustle.com. Each episode shows how the team transforms a client’s backyard into an outdoor haven.

According to their bios on Bravo, Brasier and DeSantis met while they were attending the Fashion Institute of Technology before helping co-found their company. He explains that Manscapers started years ago as a "side hustle" created while he and Brasier were roommates and decided to completely revamp their own backyard. Since then, it's transformed into a full-time job.

Magee, on the other hand, had a successful career in corporate graphic design before deciding to take classes at the New York Botanical Gardens to transition into a career in landscape design. According to their website, the trio usually works on spaces in Manhattan, Brooklyn and the Hamptons.

According to DeSantis, the crew excels in tailoring all their outdoor looks to each individual customer's personality. "We like to create outdoor rooms, and for the space to be reflective of the style of that person," says DeSantis in the article.
