Volunteers stepped up to help local man who recently lost daughter to cancer.

On Saturday, May 11, dozens of people from Montgomery, Alabama, rallied around a local lawn care business owner whose daughter recently passed away, according to an article on the WSFA 12 News website.

Glenn Pruitt owns Pruitt Lawn Care, and he’s also a city councilman. His daughter, Courtney, lost her battle to cancer on Thursday.

Doug Singleton, one of Pruitt’s friends, says he’s known Pruitt for over 40 years, and when he heard of Courtney’s passing, he knew something needed to be done to help his friend during his time of need.

Singleton says he got together a group of about 50 guys, some who knew Pruitt and some who didn’t know him. A lot of people that own lawn services volunteered their time to help Pruitt. One or two lawns was assigned to each person, and the lawn care services covered most of the bigger properties.

Singleton says he was shocked by the outpouring of support from the community. He had posted about the need on Facebook and received a tremendous response of over 100 comments of people interested in volunteering.

Singleton says the outpouring of support to help Pruitt makes him proud to live in Montgomery and be surrounded by good people that are willing to help a neighbor or friend when they need some help.
