Subscription service is making it easier for DIYers to treat their own lawns.

Just when you thought you had an edge over the do-it-yourself homeowner because of your knowledge of lawn care, a subscription service is helping them make better decisions on the products they use on their lawns. The company Lawn Serv, the self-described “do-it-yourself lawn care subscription service” has added an additional feature called My Yard Size to help its customers better measure the size of their yards to determine the quantity of product they need, according to an article on www.pymnts.com.

The company also provides soil testing. Customers who sign up for the service, get a soil test kit. They scoop dirt from their yards and send them to the lab in a pre-paid envelope. This helps Lawn Serv determine the condition of the soil and control weeds. The company’s most popular box is “Mostly Natural,” which is made up of about 85 percent natural products.

Then each month a custom mix of products is sent to the customer, which includes a custom professional grade fertilizer, weed control, but control and pH control products. The products will continue to arrive each month and is autopaused in the winter months depending on climate.

The My Yard Size tool, available at www.myyardsize.com allows you to enter your address, click on a map to plot points outlining your yard, excluding your house and driveway, and once the system has enough plot points, will provide yard measurements.

Look out traditional lawn care providers, this type of service might make you have to think outside the box to compete.
