A Champaign County, Illinois, judge sentenced 35-year-old Randall Taylor of Springfield Illinois for a July 2017 burglary in which he admitted to taking items from the landscape firm Naturescape.
According to an article in the News Gazette, assistant state's attorney Scott Larson said several items of outdoor equipment were stolen. At least one had a GPS tracking device that led police to Springfield, where they discovered that items had been sold to a friend of Taylor, according to the article.
Police were able to recover most of the stolen property, valued at around $30,000.
Taylor was arrested for the burglary not long after it occurred, but several pretrial motions and continuances delayed the sentencing. Because of his prior record, including convictions for burglary, possession of a stolen vehicle and unlawful use of a credit card, Taylor was sentenced as a Class X felon, the article states.
