The newly constructed church will open its doors May 19.

On Saturday, May 4, dozens of volunteers gathered at First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs, Texas, to put the finishing touches on the landscaping around the new building, according to an article on News 4 San Antonio.

The church sits on a new lot beside the original First Baptist Church where the deadly mass shooting that killed 26 people took place on Nov. 5, 2017.

Hundreds of thousands of dollars of landscaping and irrigation equipment and services were donated by Mundo Verde Irrigation and Landscaping, based in San Antonio, with the help of many vendors including SiteOne Landscape Supply, TreeTown USA Nursery and Rain Bird.

Mundo Verde Co-owner Susanna Guzman says they helped with the project because they believe in paying it forward.

Sutherland Springs Pastor Frank Pomeroy says that they have never given up hope and are inspired by everything all the donors and volunteers have done.

The new church will open its doors May 19 where it will be dedicated in a public ceremony.
